There is an old Johnny Carson joke about an elderly gentleman and a sweet young thing (SYT).
The elderly gentleman asks the SYT, “would you sleep with me for a million dollars?”
The SYT replies, “sure, why not?”
Then the elderly gentleman asks, “would you sleep with me for a dollar?”
“Heck, no,” said the SYT, “what do you think I am?”
The elderly gentleman replies, “we have established that, now we are just haggling over the price.”
Apparently the Enshittificator-in-chief aka tRump thinks seniors are more towards the dollar end of the haggling.
What brought this up? I had a $90 check deposited in my account today from the government. It is tied to the Trump administration’s announcement that it would send checks to 20 million Medicare enrollees to ostensially lower healthcare costs.
First, $90 is nothing in this economy. I have been calling $50 bills the new $20s. If the pundits are right the House is going to flip Democratic, and possibly the Senate. The checks are, without a doubt, pandering to seniors in a very obvious attempt to buy their votes for the upcoming midterm election. I personally wonder about the legality of it, but following laws and the Constitution is not one of the strong suits of this mal-Administration.
What I would like to do is impossible with a digital check. Even if I had a paper check I could not close enough to fulfill my fantasy.
So, I plan on donating the $90 to either the DNC or a local Democratic candidate. What a statement it would send if a bunch of other seniors were to do the same thing… but I am not holding my breath.
What an horrible hole we have fallen into with this awful waste of protoplasm in the White House.
And so it should not be.

I’m donating mine to the National Parks Conservation Association and our local PBS station.
Another good use…
