Vanity Plate for the Day – 8SCNDS

8SCNDS

This was on the back of a F-150 pickup truck.  Its message was reinforced by a sticker on the back windshield that read “Cowboy Up”.  8 seconds is the amount of time a rodeo cowboy must stay on a bull or bucking bronco to qualify for a score.  Having known a couple bull riders, they are some crazy mo-fos.

I have not put out a Vanity Plate posting for a while, mainly because I am retired and not spending an hour and half or two hours a day commuting to and from downtown St. Louis.  When I did I used the exercise of deciphering vanity plates as a way to help pass the time in rush hour traffic.

Vanity Plate for the Day – PUN-DAD

PUN-DAD

This was on the back of a gray Audi.  A plate that could certainly apply to me.  I know my kidrens got very tired of hearing me say for the umpteenth time as we went through Slick, OK  … “here we go sliding through Slick.”  I never met a pun I did not love.

Vanity Plate for the Day – FW-TX

FW-TX

On the back of a big, black Chevy SUV.  What can I say Texans are Texans no matter where they are at.  They always seem to feel they are a cut above the rest of us plebeians

Vanity Plate for the Day – GR8-NRG

GR8-NRG

Took me a minute to get this one…  It was on the back of a Subaru hybrid.  Can you say Great Energy?

Vanity Plate for the Day – NHRA-DR

NHRA-DR

This was on the back of an older mid-size Dodge pickup.  NHRA, I am assuming is National Hot Rod Association.  Then I will make the leap to DR being driver and not doctor.  From the look of his vehicle all his money was going into his race car.

All of which remains me of two fellows I worked with 40 years ago.  They got excited after going to a dirt track race and bought a race car.  They entered a race.  On the first turn of their first race a tie rod broke and the car slammed into the wall.  Neither kid was mechanical, and the expense of fixing the car ended their racing career.

Vanity Plate for the Day – CHERIO

CHERIOCHERIO

In my informal, non-scientific polling… I believe Mini-Coopers have the highest percentage of vanity plates of any car type.  And on that note cheerio to you, old sport.

Vanity Plate of the Day – NAIMAN

NAIMANNAIMAN

This one was on the back of an Infinity SUV.  I could not see the driver.  I bring this up as I can think of two possible reasons for this plate.  One it could be someone’s name.  Secondly, it could be an Arabic word that is used after someone has a shave, haircut, shower, etc.  From what read it might loosely translate as “all cleaned up, looking good again.”

Vanity Plate for the Day – QD RX

QD RXQD-RX

This one was on the back of a Honda Accord.  QD is the medical abbreviation for every day.  And of course, RX is the abbreviation for a prescription. It was a young woman driving the vehicle so I am assuming a newly minted pharmacist.
