This is the ship that Paul Henry Carr served on and died on… Paul Henry Carr was my mother’s brother, and for many years there was a US Navy missile frigate on active duty that borne his name.
The survivors of the “Sammy B” seemed to implicitly understand that they also stood in for relatives that had been lost. Ordinary men doing their job back then, and gracious to those of us they met.
