I am not sure how smart this was of us. I do wonder how long it will stay up in this super Republican neighborhood, being the district that elected Todd “Legitimate Rape” Atkins and Ann “What Climate Change” Wagner, but it is an important issue for us.
This is part of the reason I am so angry with the current Republican party. They are essentially trying to push their minority religious beliefs on the majority. Abortion is obviously a very charged subject, and I cannot imagine it ever being a very easy decision for any woman. But I strongly believe that the government should not be telling a woman what she must and must not do with her body. Polls consistently show that most Americans are Pro-Choice, that most Americans do not want a minority dictating to them on a woman’s reproductive health choices.
It would be a whole different issue if the government was telling women that they must have abortions, but that is not what is happening. Up until this corrupt Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade, a woman had control over her own health care options.
Then on the other hand there is a house a street over that has been flying a Trump flag for the last couple months. I consistently flip it off every time I drive past it.
All during the tRump presidency I had a bumper sticker on the back windshield of my Tacoma that read “Not My President”. It was almost a daily event that I got flipped off. When I went backpacking I slapped a For Sale sign with a fake phone number on top of that bumper sticker. Leaving my truck parked at some remote trailhead, I did not want to return with it shot up or my tires slashed.
God save us from the fascism that is Christian Nationalism. Allah help us to return to a style of politics that allowed us to disagree… more or less agreeably.
I’m not sure what the over and under is on this one, but we will post again if something untoward happens.
I wish the christian nationalists were actual Christians.
