Susan G. Komen Foundation Elbows Out Charities Over Use Of The Word ‘Cure’
I’ve been donating to the Susan G. Komen Foundation for years. It is not large amounts of money, $100 to $200 a year. I rotate my charitable giving across several charities.
I first started giving to the Komen Foundation in honor of an ex-girlfriend that died of breast cancer. I’ve continued for that reason, and because other women in my circle have been affected by breast cancer.
I am looking around for another charity in this field. Charity Navigator ranks Komen with 4 stars, but they also rank some others as high. See other breast cancer charities.
They are suing other charities for the use of the word, ‘Cure’. It strikes me as petty and it strikes me as less than ethical behavior on the part of the Komen Foundation management. I’m sure they will not miss my small donation
I started to go find a small pink ribbon to add to this article, but then I worried they might want to sue me for my estate of 22 cents if I used their logo.
