Disillusioned Republican laying it out

I am disillusioned… still

Our government/legislative process has been hijacked by nut cases and our Maginot Line of defense against these fruit cakes is a batch of spineless Democrats.  Mr. Obama apparently has taken Neville Chamberlain as a role model on how to lead a nation.

Mean time, back at the ranch USA, Snidely Whiplash has kidnapped Nell and Dudley Do-Right has fallen into an inter-galactic black hole.  No serious money is betting on him coming out the other end, and creditors are foreclosing on the ranch.

Below is a quote from the article Goodbye to All That: Reflections of a GOP Operative Who Left the Cult  by Mike Lofgren at truth-out.org.

“But both parties are not rotten in quite the same way. The Democrats have their share of machine politicians, careerists, corporate bagmen, egomaniacs and kooks. Nothing, however, quite matches the modern GOP.

To those millions of Americans who have finally begun paying attention to politics and watched with exasperation the tragicomedy of the debt ceiling extension, it may have come as a shock that the Republican Party is so full of lunatics.”

With so much propaganda floating around the Internet and elsewhere these days everything is suspect.  So I wondered who the heck is Mike Lofgren?   As a hobbyist blogger, I really do not have the resources to find out.  Relying on the professional journalist, James Fallow at The Atlantic I quote:

“This essay is from Truthout today, and it is by a recently retired Congressional staffer named Mike Lofgren. Lofgren’s name is barely known to the general public, but among people who have covered or worked in the national-security field, he is a familiar and highly esteemed figure. He spent 28 years as a Congressional staffer, mainly on budget matters, mainly in the defense-and-security realm, and mainly for Republican legislators.”

A Harsh Case Against Obama(and His Opponents)

It is a biting case against both parties, but it is especially so against the Republicans.  I could summarize, but it is an article that needs to be read.  It frightens me for the future of this country.
