OpEd piece NYT – Why Trump Reigns as King Cyrus

This is one of the scariest things I have read in a while.

I’ve long wondered about Gospodin Trump’s attraction to “Christians”.  To me he is the antithesis of all things Christian, he is the antithesis of all things democratic, he is the antithesis of all things moral…

Yet I know many folks who identify as Evangelical Christians and they will be quick to tell you the Gospodin Trump is a vehicle of change sent by God.  That is typically the point where I excuse myself to go puke in the bathroom.  While not a believer myself I do try to be sensitive to the religiosity of others, but their fanaticism about Gospodin Trump really makes wonder if this is deserved.

A quote from the article :

“This isn’t the religious right we thought we knew. The Christian nationalist movement today is authoritarian, paranoid and patriarchal at its core. They aren’t fighting a culture war. They’re making a direct attack on democracy itself.

Food for Thought from Robert Reich

From Robert Reich:

We’re now in the America’s second Gilded Age.

Last week it was reported that in 2017 the average CEO of the 350 largest firms in the U.S. received $18.9 million in compensation. That’s a 17.6 percent increase over 2016.

At the same time, the typical worker’s compensation remained flat, rising merely 0.3 percent.

The first Gilded Age fueled a progressive era that tamed and regulated its excesses, beginning in 1901.

Roy Blunt — Always, Always Party Before Country

The Ultimate Party Hack

I wrote my Missouri Senators requesting them to vote NO on the nomination of Judge Brett Kavanaugh to the Supreme Court.  IMHO, Kavanaugh is awful man who would have the power to set this country back 50 years.  He absolutely, should not be a Supreme Court Justice.

This is the response from Roy Blunt. It just added to the many reasons I have not voted for this man, and will never vote for this man…for any office.

Dear David:

Thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts on President Trump’s nomination of Judge Brett Kavanaugh to serve as an Associate Justice on the U.S. Supreme Court.

Judge Kavanaugh is a highly-qualified nominee with an outstanding legal background.  In his decade on the D.C. Circuit Court of Appeals, Judge Kavanaugh has become known for his intellect, effective writing style, and ability to build consensus.

The Supreme Court is one of the most important legacies a president can leave.  I look forward to learning more about Judge Kavanaugh’s judicial record and talking with him about his judicial philosophy as the confirmation process moves forward.

Again, thank you for contacting me.  I look forward to continuing our conversation on Facebook (www.facebook.com/SenatorBlunt) and Twitter (www.twitter.com/RoyBlunt) about the important issues facing Missouri and the country.  I also encourage you to visit my website (blunt.senate.gov) to learn more about where I stand on the issues and sign-up for my e-newsletter.

Sincere regards,

Roy Blunt

yeah I know you did not ask!

What strange times we live in.  Here I am rooting for the porn star Stormy Daniels @StormyDaniels over the so called President of the United States Gospodin Trump @realDonaldTrump I so hopes she takes him down. I so hope she demonstrates beyond any doubt what the whole world already knows.  That he is awful human being who should be in prison. #WorstPresidentEver

Respect for the Office of POTUS

I do not think Obama was a great President, but I do think he was a good President. I do believe that if we had not had a Republican congress hell bent on creating a shit-hole of a banana republic out of this country for their rich sponsors, he might have been a great President.  He was a bit of a disappointment to me as a progressive as he listened to the military much too much, and I found him to be somewhat conservative.  20 or 25 years ago, his policies would have been Republican policies. There are not enough poor folks to satisfy this Administration

Apparently there are not enough poor people in this country to satisfy the Effingham Trumpsters!

The Department of Labor released a proposed rule rescinding portions of its tip regulations, including current restrictions on “tip pooling”—which would mean that, for example, restaurants would be able to pool the tips servers receive and share them with untipped employees such as cooks and dishwashers. But, crucially, the rule doesn’t actually require that employers distribute pooled tips to workers. Under the administration’s proposed rule, as long as the tipped workers earn minimum wage, the employer can legally pocket those tips.
